These terms cover the use of this site. They are worth the four minutes they take, because the money you spend on an experience is spent with somebody else.
Linen Harbour is an independent publication. We recommend. We do not arrange. We read a supplier catalogue, we apply the same three tests to every entry, and we publish what survives with the reasoning attached.
We do not operate, sell, resell or guarantee any of the experiences listed. We hold no inventory, we take no payment, we have no exclusive access to anything and we have no agreement that reserves a place for a reader.
Every booking is made with the operator or with the booking platform. Their terms govern the contract, the payment, the cancellation policy, the insurance, the conduct of the activity and anything that goes wrong during it. Read them on the page where you pay.
We are not party to that contract. We cannot move a date, change a booking, issue a refund or step into a dispute. The operator is the only one who can do any of that, and they answer faster than we do.
Every figure on this site is a starting price, read from the supplier catalogue at the moment the page was built. It is the lowest published figure for that experience at that moment.
A starting price is not a quote and it is not an offer. It moves with the season, the number of people, the departure time, the currency and what is left to sell. The figure that counts is the one the operator shows at checkout, and that is the one you pay.
Ratings and review counts work the same way. They are read at build time and they keep changing afterwards. We publish the count next to the rating so you can weigh it, because 4.9 across sixty reviews and 4.9 across two thousand are different claims.
We earn a commission when a booking is made through a link on this site. Your price is the same either way. The commission plays no part in the three tests that decide what gets published, no operator can buy an entry, and no operator can buy a better position in a list. How we choose
Photographs of places come from Wikimedia Commons under the licence named beside each one, with the author and the licence shown above the image on every page that uses it. Photographs inside an experience page belong to the operator that supplied them.
Ratings, review counts and catalogue data are reproduced from the supplier platform and belong to it. The writing, the tests, the shortlists and the reasoning are ours. Quoting a short passage with a link back is welcome. Reproducing a page or a list wholesale is not.
The site is published as it stands. We check what we publish and we still expect to be wrong sometimes, because a catalogue this size moves every day and a price read this morning can be stale by the afternoon. We do not warrant that a listing is still available, that a figure is still current, or that an operator will perform as described.
So far as the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from a booking made with an operator, from an experience that did not go as expected, or from a figure that had moved by the time you read it. Where the consumer law of your country gives you rights, nothing written here takes them away.
The booking is governed by the terms of the operator or the platform you book with, and by the law those terms name. These site terms are governed by the law of the country from which the site is published, and any mandatory consumer protection where you live applies on top of them and is not displaced by anything here.
These terms change when the site changes. The date at the top is the date of the last review, and a change takes effect when it appears on this page. There is no notice by email, because the club list exists to carry the shortlist and we do not use it for anything else. A change worth saying out loud gets said in the journal too.
Everything reaches us through one form. No address is written anywhere on this site, and that is deliberate. The desk
