# How we choose

> Three tests, applied to every experience with no editorial discretion: above 500 USD, at least 50 verified reviews, combined rating of 4.5 or better. 517 of 25,237 measured clear all three, which is 2.0 per cent.

**Price above 500 dollars.** Below that we are not looking at private travel, we are looking at a coach with a microphone.

**At least fifty verified reviews.** A five star rating on two reviews tells you nothing. This is the test that removes most of the expensive inventory, and it is why Monaco, Zermatt and Dubai do not appear here despite listing hundreds of costly experiences.

**A combined rating of 4.5 or better.** Across the operator platform and TripAdvisor together, not one of them alone.

The price is the lowest published starting price at our last catalogue read. It is not a quote and it moves with season and availability. Every figure is read from the catalogue on each build and nothing is typed by hand. When an experience is withdrawn, its page disappears rather than showing a price that no longer exists.

We earn a commission when a reader books through a link on this site. It never changes what they pay and it plays no part in the three tests.

## Questions

**What are the three tests?** Above 500 dollars, at least 50 verified reviews, and a combined rating of 4.5 or better. All three, with no exceptions. 517 of the 25,237 experiences we measured clear them, which is 2.0 per cent.

**Can an operator pay to be on the list?** No. There is no paid placement, no sponsored slot and no editorial discretion inside the filter. The commission is the same wherever a reader books, so the filter has nothing to gain from letting anyone through.

**Why fifty reviews and not ten?** Because a five star rating on two reviews tells you nothing. This is the test that removes most of the expensive inventory, and it is why Monaco, Zermatt and Dubai do not appear here despite listing hundreds of costly experiences.

**Where do the ratings come from?** The operator platform and TripAdvisor combined, never one of them alone. Across the register that is 149,129 verified reviews, read from the supplier catalogue on 8 August 2026.

**What happens when an experience is withdrawn?** Its page disappears on the next build. Every figure on this site is read from the catalogue at build time, so a withdrawn experience cannot linger showing a price that no longer exists.

**How are you paid, and does it change the price?** The operator pays us a commission after a reader books, and it never changes what the reader pays. It plays no part in the three tests. We would rather say the cheaper option is the better one and lose the booking.
